Maureen Nelson, PCA
(14+) Beaverton Office *ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS*

Hello! My name is Maureen Nelson. As a Professional Counselor Associate, I believe in the positive capacity for growth and healing within each individual. I enjoy working with individuals 14+ and couples. My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, and working through trauma.
With warmth and empathy, I offer a person-centered integrative approach, drawing upon evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and attachment theory. I think it’s important to explore how past experiences shape your present thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, fostering deeper self-awareness, understanding and self-efficacy.
I have a passion for working with couples and am trained in the Gottman method. Drawing on Gottman interventions, I help couples build stronger foundations by focusing on friendship, conflict navigation, communication, and emotional intimacy.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and am committed to creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard, seen, and empowered on your journey towards well-being.
I received my Bachelor of science from Warner Pacific University and my master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University. Prior to my career as a therapist, I worked in education, supporting students in their social, emotional and academic growth. For the past 10 years I have volunteered as a marriage cohort mentor in a local faith community.
I have three adult children, and one grandbaby on the way! I also have a fur baby Duchess who keeps me actively walking rain or shine. In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach with my husband and dog Duchess, being with my kids, walking, pickle ball, paddle boarding, and anything else that’s fun.
