Matthew Preuitt, LPC

Matt is a Licensed Professional Counselor with eight years of clinical experience specializing in depression, anxiety, grief, divorce recovery, relationship issues, life transitions, men’s issues, anger management, ADHD and more. Matt has experience treating adults in individual, couples, family and group counseling. He has experience in community and custody settings. Matt uses a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and an insight oriented therapeutic approach with his clients.
His style is warm, collaborative, supportive and empathetic. He listens to your experience to cultivate understanding, meaning and self-examination. Matt helps his clients to understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. He explores family of origin dynamics and those issues that may be outside of his client’s immediate awareness that impact his client’s relationship to themselves and others.
Matt brings a unique 35-year career to the therapeutic experience with his work in private counseling, social services, conducting groups and case management with those involved in the criminal justice system, particularly those with severe and persistent mental illness. He also has experience working as a community college instructor.
In his free time, Matt enjoys the outdoors, reading, and spending time with his family and friends boating the Oregon water ways. He is in a multi-racial relationship and blended family which brings unique insight to his practice. He has four children and three grandchildren. Matt has a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Portland.
