Dan Blanchette, LPC
(Ages: 18-64) Beaverton Office *ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS*

I have more than 20 years of experience in mental health care. I have also served in the United States Army and was at one time, a special education teacher. I was inspired to become a therapist after seeing a loved one's struggle with accessing mental health support and finding a meaningful experience. As a therapist, I believe it is important to avoid a cookie cutter approach, and I work hard to meet clients wherever they are. I listen to their stories, hear their values and respect their beliefs, which creates a more meaningful therapeutic experience. I avoid assumptions, inviting clients to share their unique stories about their identity, culture, and beliefs.
I believe that offering respect and a safe environment are critical for clients to feel that their stories and experiences have been heard and valued.
In my career as a therapist, I have worked with military veterans, victims of trauma, and individuals with developmental disabilities. Past job roles have also included vocational rehabilitation counselor, residential case manager, behavioral health provider, and a clinical specialist for a national suicide prevention hotline. I have consulted in court cases, worked in primary care, inpatient treatment, and emergency departments.
Modalities utilized in counseling include CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, and Client Centered Therapy. I hold a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Portland State University.
I find it rewarding to offer hope, laughter, healing, and play a role in clients finding their own inner strength.
